The boys and girls of Mrs Fleming's 2nd grade class of Carter-Avery Elementary School.  You'll recognize some familiar names!  And believe it or not, there is a Facebook page for Carter-Avery alumni!  (Thanks to Pam Calitri Balabanis for the photo.)

Unlike other K-6 elementary schools in town, Avery was for grades K-2 and Carter was for grades 3-6, which is why they were referred to together.  According to the Needham School System:

There were two schools in Needham:  The Carter School and the Avery School.

The Carter School was on Highland Avenue, in Needham Heights.  The building was torn down and is now the Webster Green Apartments.

The Avery School was also in Needham Heights and the building still stands today.  It was converted to condominiums several years ago.
