Susan M. Murphy

Milton, MA – Susan M. Murphy of Windham, NH died on Nov. 17, 2017 at
Seasons Hospice in Milton, MA of pancreatic cancer. She was 71.
Susan was born in Boston to Edward T. and Charlotte Murphy (Boyd) and
grew up in Needham, MA graduating from Needham High School and Fitchburg
State College. After moving to Boston, she became a secretary at the JFK
Federal Building for many years until retiring to Windham, New Hampshire
to be close to family due to early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
As an adult, Susan was skier and traveled extensively through Europe on
many vacations throughout her life. She was passionate about reading,
knitting and corresponding with her many friends and relatives.
Susan is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Murphy) Sawyer and her
husband Thomas of Hampstead, New Hampshire and their three children:
Andrew Sawyer, Emily (Sawyer)Monaco and her husband Braden and their
daughters of Newburyport, MA, Katelyn Sawyer and her fiancé, Adam
Lachance and their son of Derry, New Hampshire . She is also survived by
her Aunt Joan Morgan and many cousins on her mother’s and father’s side
of the family. Susan will also be greatly missed by her family at Pine
Hill Assisted Living in Windham, NH with whom she lived for the past six
years and her lifelong friend Jane McCarthy of Maine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church,
West Roxbury on Saturday November 25, at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends
are invited to attend. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline, MA.
